I am deeply honoured that you are considering me as your holistic counsellor and psychotherapist.
I offer a trauma-informed, integrative approach to healing and transformation by weaving together a range of healing modalities and wisdom. Each journey is different, unfolding session by session, in order to discover the right process for each individual client. I will meet you where you are, when you’re ready, online or on location in the Blue Mountains.
My approach is hands-on and compassionate, putting the whole person into focus with an acknowledgement of your needs, fears, traumas, life experiences, dreams, emotions and grief. This work is not passive. It is an ongoing process of deepening, attending and listening, and although it will be challenging, I will be by your side as you return to wholeness.
As a holistic therapist, I will....
Establishing a safe container and an internal support team
Core influences: Buddhism, Carl Jung and Bill Plotkin
Therapy can be a journey of deep vulnerability where we are invited to attend to our grief, rage, fears, and traumas. With this in mind, we’ll work together to determine what internal resources you have available to navigate your more challenging memories, experiences and emotions.
These resources, such as compassion, non-judgmental awareness, courage, hope and/or love become your internal support team, walking side-by-side with you as you journey inwards and outwards.
Honour your grief
Core influences: Francis Weller, Bayo Akomolafe and adrienne marie brown
Loss is part of life. Losing our loved ones, losing ourselves, losing our confidence or losing our emotional, mental and spiritual voice, grief is inherent to our experience as humans.
My own journey with grief has inspired a temple of wisdom, empathy and perspective inside me. My intention is to create a safe space for you to move into the right relationship with your grief, not too far away and not too close. I offer you a place to fall apart and be remade.
Look back to our systems of origin
Core influences: Feminist therapy, Family systems, Family constellations, Complex PTSD therapy.
Our early childhood experiences can influence the way we feel about the world and our place in it as we claim our adulthood. It is in our systems of origin that we typically learn to become who we are.
Our core beliefs about who we are, our sense of self worth and what we can hope for in this life are instilled by our familial, educational and cultural social systems. We do not all experience systemic constructs in the same way, not even in the same family or social group. The way we were nurtured, seen, heard, loved, cared for and encouraged is different from our siblings, friends and parents.
Because these systems are founded on the concepts of power and freedom, understanding how they shape us opens the door to greater healing as individuals and communities while bringing attention to damaging or oppressive systems.
Help you see yourself as a system of parts
Core influences: Internal Family Systems
We don’t just belong to systems, we are a system of interrelated parts that can be both complementary and competitive. We can find ourselves wishing that parts of ourselves would go away. We might wish away feelings of guilt, shame or anxiety. We might disavow thoughts or behaviours.
In this way, we disavow parts of ourselves and send ourselves the message that we are not acceptable, lovable or good enough.
We will work together to restore wholeness by identifying all of your parts and their relationships to each other, embracing the role each part has played to protect you while working towards restoring an inner-balance.
Foster multidimensional awareness
Core influences: Process-oriented psychology, Arnold Mindel, Julie Diamond
In every session, I work with your inner wisdom to discover what wants to be known. Your body symptoms, dreams, movements and words are all encoded with valuable information about your true nature and what really wants to be seen, heard, healed and restored.
Our identities are so often constructed and enforced by social norms or organised around difficult experiences, painful events and trauma that it can become difficult to hear and trust our own inner knowing. Together, we will move into your true essence buried deep within the subconscious.
