Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) aims to enhance your psychological flexibility and satisfaction by developing your willingness to occupy challenging emotions and circumstances, adapting thoughts and behaviours to better align your personal values and goals. Move forward with a life that you value. 


How ACT therapy will steer your journey with me

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) gets its name from one of its core messages: accept what is out of your personal control and commit to action that improves and enriches your life.


During our sessions together, I may utilise the ACT framework and develop your ability to distance yourself from unhelpful thoughts and memories; foster the acceptance and release of painful feelings and sensations; and help you maintain contact with the present moment with curiosity and openness. 


ACT therapy (pronounced 'act') helps you to:

  1. Develop psychological skills to deal more effectively with difficult thoughts and feelings, to reduce their impact and influence over you.
  2. Clarify your values (your heart’s deepest desires for how you want to behave as a human being; how you want to treat yourself, others and the world around you). You then use these values to guide, inspire and motivate yourself to take action: to do what matters, face your fears, live meaningfully, and change your life for the better.
  3. Focus your attention on what is important and engage fully in whatever you are doing.


My ACT therapy qualifications

I have completed two programs by the internationally recognised ACT trainer, Russ Harris, including: 

● Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Beginners with Russ Harris 

● Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Grief and Loss with Russ Harris
